Magick Alphabets

As I stated in a previous post, as witches delve deeper and deeper into higher magicks then it becomes more important to be secretive about our work. As we learn more then we start to uncover alternate meaning of things that we had already been taught about take the hexagram for example, it is commonly known as the Jewish star(Star of David) and many people are against Judaism(I know it's wrong) and they aren't going to listen if you try to explain that you aren't Jewish, they are just going to judge. That applies for a lot of things and a lot of people, though not everyone is so judgmental.

Anyway, it is important to keep our work hidden so I've gathered a list of ancient alphabets that people can use to decrypt their writing so others can't read it. Personally, I use the Theban Script, but there are also scripts like:

Elder Futhark Runes
Pictish Script
Writing of the Magi
Celestial Script
Bobilith
Enochian
Entruscan
Malachim
Greek
Hebrew
Phoenician

here are the links to the websites I took them from and they have pictures too along with descriptions to help you choose.

  1. Unfortunately, there are so many misconceptions about the "craft", primarily born of fear and ignorance, that you're right, it's not openly practiced as a general rule. When you talk about "magick alphabets", the same can be said about perceptions. What one person may conceive as a "spell", others may consider a "prayer". So it might not be a matter of secretiveness so much as adaptation.

  2. Good point you have there, but still for most people, anything having to do with the craft is looked down on and waving around that one practice's witchcraft slams a big target down on them. It's a shame really.

  3. Thanks for your blog. I found it searching for "bobolith alphabet". This is the first time I have participated in magick and have chosen sygil magick. Here's what I asked for, "I live in an ecovillage and am happy because Parker (my 5 year old son, I'm divorced unfortunately) can visit and be happy living for Mother Nature and Father God." I'll continue the rest of the story of how I think my life path has taken a turn for the better thanks to a letter I received and how it brought me to get into magick and Wicca. I'd appreciate fellowship with you since you're part of my journey if you'd like to share your blog links, advice, comments, etc. The goal at my blog is to create a network that connects people from different paths concerning alternative living. I listen to truth seeking podcasts and am trying to act as an organizer of the audience like me so we're not just passive consumer but local activators upon what we learn from the internet, gnosis and building and celebrating together. Thanks. : )
